Three of our students—Wu Tik Yan (5A), Fung Cheuk Yan (5C), and Lee Ho Won (4D)—departed on September 27, 2025, to participate in the eight-day, seven-night "Italy Design, Art, and Culture Study and Exchange Tour" organized by the SSP Youth Corps. They visited two Italian cities, Milan and Rome, gaining in-depth exposure to Italy's rich art and design heritage.

The students explored several must-see landmarks, including the Duomo di Milano (Milan Cathedral), Santa Maria delle Grazie, the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, the Vatican Museums, and the Pantheon. They also visited Milan’s award-winning building, the "Vertical Forest" (Bosco Verticale), where they experienced Italy’s remarkable architectural and design achievements first-hand.

In addition, the students visited two art and design schools—I.I.S. Caterina da Siena in Milan and I.I.S. Donato Bramante in Rome. They also toured the FEDERICO SANGALLI fashion company in Milan and the Chinese Embassy in Rome. These visits provided valuable opportunities to engage with local designers and deepen their understanding of Italian art and design.

Stepping out of Asia and into a completely different cultural atmosphere, the students immersed themselves in Italy’s culinary traditions, ways of thinking, and lifestyle. When their hands touched the marble of the Colosseum, they felt transported back in time, witnessing the glory and trials of ancient Rome. They realized that Italy’s rich history was forged through sweat and tears, forming the foundation of its unique culture. As they walked the streets of Milan, they gained a deep appreciation for Italians’ way of living— the pursuit of a calm and elegant, free and unrestricted life with style.

The highlight of their journey was a profound realization that seeking and upholding one’s own uniqueness, rather than chasing trends, is the essence of authentic design and the true way of living. In an era where globalization and artificial intelligence co-exist, this self-awareness and persistence are key to creating value and living life to its fullest.
